When the IGBT or MOSFET has an upper or lower bridge or load short circuit, the drive circuit turns off the IGBT/MOSFET and causes a voltage spike to act as an active clamp.
Note: If the DC bus voltage is not too high, it can be completed by a single TVS. If the voltage is too high, it can be completed by multiple low-voltage IVSs connected in series. However, care should be taken to suppress the series parasitic inductance to avoid overcharging when the active clamping voltage is too high.
