
During high-speed transmission, CANFD generates higher harmonic frequencies and more concentrated energy due to steeper signal edges and higher data rates, making it more prone to exceeding radiated interference limits, especially in the 100MHz to GHz frequency band. Suppression measures include optimizing bus signal integrity, such as strictly controlling impedance, using shielded twisted-pair cables, and ensuring matching terminating resistors.
In PCB design, CANFD differential connections should be strictly equal in length, tightly coupled, and have a complete ground plane underneath. At the connector, dedicated CANFD transceivers with integrated common-mode filtering and ESD protection, or external filters, can be used. Furthermore, proper cable shielding and grounding are also crucial.
