In a typical protection architecture for pulse oximeters, place ultra-low capacitance ESD arrays adjacent to the photodiode front-end to suppress ESD without adding parasitic capacitance. Follow with high-power TVS diodes on power rails for transient surge clamping. Use common-mode EMI chokes between sensitive analog front-ends and digital logic to minimize conducted noise coupling.
