The bundling of internal wiring harnesses in edge computing boxes creates crosstalk paths by tightly packing different signal lines, and the entire bundle becomes an effective antenna, affecting EMC radiation. Correct practices include:
1. Separating strong and weak current lines: Power lines and signal lines are bundled separately with a spacing >20mm.
2. Differential and clock lines are routed separately, avoiding long parallel runs with other wiring harnesses.
3. Wiring harnesses are laid close to the metal casing to absorb radiation.
4. I/O wiring harnesses are fitted with ferrite cores (CMZ7060A-701T) with an impedance of 700Ω at 100MHz.
5. Common-mode beads or capacitors are connected in series in critical interface wiring harnesses; for example, a ferrite core is used for the network port cable.
Actual testing showed that unbundled USB cables inside an edge computing box resulted in excessive radiation at 30-100MHz due to an antenna effect; after rectification, radiation emissions decreased by 11dB.
