How to reduce EMC hazards in inverter field wiring

Standardizing inverter field wiring is crucial for reducing EMC risks and ensuring long-term stable operation. Field wiring guidelines should include:

Grounding: Ensure reliable grounding of the inverter, motor, and related equipment housings, and strive for equipotential bonding.

Cable selection: Use shielded cables for power cables and shielded twisted-pair cables for control signal lines.

Cable laying: Separate power cables from control and signal cables, maintaining sufficient distance (e.g., >20cm), avoiding parallel laying; if parallel laying is unavoidable, maximize spacing or perpendicular crossing.

Cable shielding treatment: Ensure the shielding layer is reliably grounded at both ends (or as specified) via shielding clips or connector metal shells, achieving a 360-degree overlap to avoid "pigtail" joints.

Cable length: Minimize length while meeting application requirements, especially for motor cables.

Cable securing: Prevent loosening and reduce loop area.

Power inlet: Install filters, reactors, etc., at power inlets according to specifications.

Communication lines: Keep away from inverter and motor cables. Provide clear wiring diagrams and train field personnel.

By following these guidelines, EMC problems caused by improper field installation can be minimized. Eternity can provide shielding and grounding accessories for field wiring.
