Properly handling the shielding of the motion controller's MC bus cable is crucial for ensuring signal quality and suppressing radiation. The shielding should be connected to the chassis ground at the controller end via the connector's metal housing or a dedicated shielding clip, achieving a 360-degree low-impedance connection. For RJ45 interfaces such as Ethernet, shielded connectors with metal housings should be used. If the device at the other end of the bus is also grounded, a ground loop may be formed. The impact needs to be assessed, and if necessary, a ferrite core should be added to the cable or a special cable with grounded ends but a broken shield in the middle should be used.
The shielding should not be used as a signal return conductor. For multi-pair twisted-pair bus cables, each pair can have independent sub-shielding; the relationship between sub-shielding and the overall shielding needs to be determined according to cable specifications and grounding requirements. After processing, the conductivity and grounding resistance of the shielding should be tested. Good shielding significantly reduces radiated emissions and improves immunity to radio frequency interference.
