How is the EMC protection ensured for the MC bus signal quality of the motion controller?

To ensure the quality of the motion controller's MC bus signal from an EMC perspective, it is essential to protect the signal from contamination during generation, transmission, and reception. This requires selecting compliant transceiver chips and providing them with clean power. Strict control of PCB trace impedance is crucial to minimize reflections. Necessary common-mode filtering and transient protection should be added at the ports, but their impact on signal edges must be assessed. Use well-shielded cables with matched characteristic impedance and ensure proper termination.

Ensure a robust grounding system for the entire communication link to prevent ground noise from modulating the signal. Verify through testing: measure signal eye diagrams, jitter, rise time, and other parameters; conduct immunity tests, monitoring signal parameter changes and bit error rate under interference; and perform transmission tests to ensure the bus's radiation does not exceed limits. EMC assurance is a systematic project that requires considering signal integrity at every stage of the design to ultimately achieve reliable communication even in noisy environments.
