How to isolate noise from the MC switching power supply of the motion controller?

To isolate noise generated by the switching power supply within the motion controller (MC), the key is to confine the noise to a localized area and block its propagation path. First, add a shielding enclosure to the switching power supply module itself, ensuring the enclosure is properly grounded. Use high-performance filters at the power supply's input and output terminals, such as power supply modules with integrated filters or π-type filter circuits, where the common-mode inductor (CMZ series) and X/Y capacitors should be placed close to the power supply. Use an isolated DC-DC module to power noise-sensitive circuits, using a transformer to isolate noise at the primary side.

In the PCB layout, the switching power supply area should be located away from analog and digital signal areas, with isolation slots possible in between. The power supply should be grounded using a dedicated "noise ground" plane, connected to the system clean ground at a single point. The switching node area of the switching power supply should be minimized to reduce radiation. For multiple outputs, add LC filtering to each output. Use a near-field probe to scan and locate the power supply's radiation hotspots, then add targeted local shielding or adjust filter parameters.
