How to design a smart controller PAC (EtherCAT/Profinet EMC)?

The EtherCAT/Profinet interface EMC design of the intelligent controller PAC must meet the harsh environment of industrial communication. Electrical isolation is achieved using an isolation transformer (such as HX1188NL) at the physical layer, with the transformer's secondary center tap connected to the chassis via a 1000pF capacitor. At the RJ45 interface, connectors with integrated common-mode inductors (such as CMZ3225A-510T) and ESD protection (such as ESDLC3V3D3B) are used. For PCB routing, differential pairs (TD+/TD-, RD+/RD-) are strictly equal in length, with parallel spacing maintained at twice the trace width, referencing a complete ground plane.

The power supply provides an independent LDO for the PHY chip, with a ferrite bead (PBZ1608A-102Z0T) for filtering at the input. The chassis interface uses a metal-cased RJ45 connector, with a 360-degree overlap with the chassis. Testing and verification show that this design enables the EtherCAT/Profinet port to pass IEC61000-4-2 ESD Level 2 certification. 4 (contact 8kV), IEC61000-4-4 EFT Level 4 (4kV) and IEC61000-4-5 Surge Level 3 (2kV), with a communication error rate of less than 10^-10;
