The functional safety (e.g., SIL2) and EMC of the intelligent power controller (PAC) must be considered in both design and testing. During design, safety-related circuits (e.g., watchdog timers, redundant circuits) need enhanced EMC protection, such as using isolation, filtering, and redundant power supplies.
EMC testing should simulate fault conditions to verify that safety functions are not lost under interference. A comprehensive evaluation should be conducted according to standards such as IEC 61508 (functional safety) and IEC 61000-4 (EMC). For example, in EFT testing, the system should not produce dangerous faults. A balanced design allows the PAC to meet both functional safety integrity levels and pass EMC testing, making it suitable for safety-critical applications.
