Enhanced shielding for power line carrier PLC plastic housings requires conductive coatings or metallization. Conductive coatings include conductive paint (such as silver-copper paint), arc spraying (such as zinc spraying), or chemical plating (such as electroless nickel plating). Coating thickness is typically 10-30 μm, with a surface resistivity of less than 1 Ω/sq. For internal components, conductive cloth or aluminum foil can be used. Seams should be designed with overlapping structures and sealed with conductive tape. During testing, a shielding effectiveness testing system should be used; the shielding effectiveness should be greater than 40 dB in the 30 MHz-1 GHz range. Enhanced shielding allows plastic housings to achieve similar performance to metal housings, reducing costs while meeting EMC requirements.
