Servo drive chips (such as PWM generators and current sampling ADCs) are inherently susceptible to EMI interference from internal power switches, leading to malfunctions or sampling distortion. Etymotic's protection measures include:
1) Power pin protection: Decoupling capacitors (e.g., 100nF C0G + 10μF tantalum capacitors) are placed near each power pin, and filtering is performed using ferrite beads (PBZ1608A-102Z0T).
2) Signal pin protection: Critical input signals (such as fault feedback and enable) are connected in series with resistors (e.g., 100Ω) and in parallel with ESD protection devices (e.g., ESD5V0D3B). For analog sampling lines, differential inputs are used with RC low-pass filters.
3) Chip layout: The drive chip is placed in a "quiet" area with a complete ground plane underneath and away from power devices.
4) Software fault tolerance: Digital filtering and fault confirmation mechanisms are added to the software.
Through the combination of hardware and software, the drive chip can operate stably without false triggering under harsh EMI testing (e.g., EN 61000-4-3 10V/m RS).
