Can the fuse automatically reset after an overcurrent at a data center switch port?

The data center switch's resettable fuse uses a positive temperature coefficient polymer material. During an overcurrent fault, Joule heating causes the device temperature to rise above 125°C, resulting in a sudden increase in resistance of 3-4 orders of magnitude, limiting the current. After the fault is removed and the fuse cools to below 40°C, the polymer crystallizes and returns to a low-resistance state. The reset time is proportional to the ambient temperature. In a standard test at 25°C, the Yinte Electronics SMD2920-150-16V fuse operates for 0.5 seconds with an 8A fault current, requiring 3.5 seconds to cool to a low-resistance state after the fault is removed. At a high temperature of 60°C, the cooling reset time extends to 8 seconds. The design must ensure a distance >5mm between the PTC and the heat-generating device to avoid thermal coupling and prolong the reset process. After more than 1000 reset cycles, the measured room temperature resistance drift is <15%, still meeting the specifications.
