Can the DI/DO interface of an industrial AI edge gateway be linked with AI inference results to achieve control?

The industrial AI edge gateway (DI) collects external status data and outputs AI decision results to control actuators. To ensure the reliability of DI/DO under switching surges and electrostatic discharge, the DI needs to be optocoupled and connected in parallel with a TVS ESDSM712, which has a dual-channel bidirectional clamping voltage of 7V/12V. The DO uses a relay or solid-state relay with a freewheeling diode SS36 (SS Schottky 3A 60V SMA package). A 7D220K varistor is connected in parallel to the DO output to absorb the back EMF of the inductive load when it is de-energized. Actual testing showed that the DO operates normally and triggers without error under an IEC61000-4-5 1kV surge.
