EMC design of ventilators is crucial for patient safety. The AC motor drive components of the turbine fan or air compressor should be housed in a metal shield, with power lines filtered by through-core capacitors. Shielded twisted-pair cables should be used for the drive lines controlling proportional valves or stepper motors, and a freewheeling diode and RC buffer circuit should be connected in parallel at the driver output. All sensor signal lines (flow rate, pressure, oxygen concentration) must be shielded, and signals entering the control board must undergo RC low-pass filtering and ESD/TVS protection (e.g., ESD5V0D3B). The entire unit's AC power input must use a high-performance medical-grade EMI filter, and critical internal DC power rails should use ferrite beads and TVS filters for secondary filtering and protection.
