The power supply for the management port (RJ45 Console) of the data center switch is usually drawn from USB or internal 3.3V, with a maximum current of <200mA. Overcurrent protection is provided by the Etymotic SMD0603-020-6V (holding current 0.2A, withstand voltage 6V, initial resistance 0.8Ω). This device has an SMD0603 package suitable for high-density layouts. The signal lines themselves do not require overcurrent protection, but if the management port integrates a 5V VBUS output (such as a USB configuration port), an SMD1812-050-16V (holding current 0.5A) needs to be connected in series. At the same time, an ESD protection array (VRWM=5V, junction capacitance 0.8pF) is connected in parallel to protect against ESD. In actual testing, when the management port is short-circuited to ground, the PTC operates within 0.8 seconds to limit the current to 40mA, and recovers within 2 seconds after the fault is removed.
