If an edge computing box is used in an automotive environment, it must meet the ISO 7637-2 standard for conducted electrical disturbances in road vehicles, applicable only to 12V/24V power systems. This standard defines transient interferences such as pulse 1, pulse 2a 2b, pulse 3a 3b, pulse 4, pulse 5a 5b, etc. For 24V systems, the edge box must withstand pulses 1 (-100V), 2a (+50V), 3a/b (±150V), and 5b (+123V). For these stringent pulse requirements, we recommend the Etymotic automotive-grade TVS SM8K33CA, named SM8K series 8000W DO-218AB package, 33V (Volume A directly indicates VRWM=33V), clamping at 53.3V, capable of absorbing high-energy pulse 5b. It is also compatible with the common-mode inductor CMLA4532A-510T, an automotive-grade 4532 inductor with dimensions of 4.5×3.2mm. The 510T inductance of 51μH meets the ISO7637-2 pulse 1 and 3a high-frequency component filtering requirements and also complies with ISO16750 random vibration and temperature requirements. E-Tech Electronics' automotive-grade components are AEC-Q101 certified, ensuring long-term reliability of automotive edge boxes.
