How can PCSEMC (Polymerized Energy Storage System) be redesigned without reducing efficiency?

PCS EMC remediation often requires the addition of filtering or absorption components. The key is to avoid a significant drop in system efficiency. The strategies are as follows:

1. Precise Remediation: Through near-field localization and testing, accurately locate the noise source and coupling path for targeted remediation, avoiding blindly adding filtering components. For example, if the source is switch ringing, prioritize optimizing the driver or adding a small-capacity buffer capacitor, rather than blindly increasing the common-mode inductor.

2. Select High-Efficiency Components: Use common-mode and differential-mode inductors with low DC resistance (DCR); select low-ESR filter capacitors; use low-loss ferrite cores.

3. Optimize Buffer Circuits: Replace purely dissipative RCD buffers with efficient buffer topologies such as active clamping, feeding the absorbed energy back to the bus or utilizing it.

4. Assess Impact: After each remediation, remeasure system efficiency and assess the impact of the changes. Sometimes, "non-destructive" remediation measures such as optimizing layout and shortening loops can also significantly improve EMI. The goal is to find the EMI suppression solution with the least impact on efficiency.
