For diverse digital interfaces such as USB, buttons, and touchscreens, multi-channel, low-capacitance integrated ESD protection devices should be prioritized. These devices integrate multiple protection units into a single chip, providing symmetrical and consistent clamping protection for data lines and power lines, ensuring signal timing is not disrupted. During selection, the key parameter is line capacitance, which must be significantly lower than the interface signal's inherent capacitance to ground to avoid signal edge distortion. For example, for USB 2.0 data lines, the single-line capacitance of the protection device should be kept below 1pF; for high-speed touchscreen interfaces, the requirements are even stricter. Integrated solutions can greatly save PCB space, simplify layout and routing, and enhance protection consistency.
