The industrial AI edge gateway has an IP65 protection rating, making its housing dustproof and waterproof. However, the sealed structure may affect EMC shielding effectiveness, which needs to be considered during the structural design. Conductive foam is embedded at the joint between the upper and lower covers and compressed by 25% to ensure IP65 protection while maintaining conductive continuity and a contact resistance of <20mΩ. Etymotic conductive foam provides dual functions of IP65 sealing and shielding. The interface uses an IP65 waterproof shielded connector. The housing is grounded to the chassis via a conductive gasket. Actual measurements show that the IP65 prototype only has a 2dB lower shielding effectiveness at 1GHz compared to the non-waterproof prototype, still meeting the radiated emission limits.
