EMC (Electronic Health Compatibility) of medical workstations relies heavily on selection and external measures. Choosing branded commercial or industrial PCs generally results in better EMC performance due to their internal power supply and motherboard designs compared to consumer-grade products. Power outlets supplying the computer should come from clean circuits or use medical-grade PDUs (Power Distribution Units) with filtering capabilities. USB or serial cables connecting peripherals (e.g., printers, card readers) should be as short as possible, or ferrite core cables should be used. The computer's metal chassis should be properly grounded. The workstation should be placed away from large medical equipment (e.g., X-ray machines, ultrasound machines). Regularly patch the operating system and drivers to maintain stability.
