Electric wheelchairs, classified as Class B (for patients with active implants) or general medical devices, must comply with GB 9706.1, YY 0505 (domestic), and IEC 60601-1-2 (international) EMC standards. They include a high-power DC motor (brushed/brushless), controller, battery pack, and joystick. The standards require that their drive system remain stable and controllable in complex outdoor electromagnetic environments (e.g., car ignition, radio base stations) without malfunctions (e.g., sudden acceleration/steering). Furthermore, the electromagnetic emissions generated by the wheelchair should not interfere with any active implants the wearer may have, such as pacemakers.
