The CAN bus communication within ECMO devices demands extremely high signal integrity. Traditional protection devices, due to their parasitic capacitance, can degrade the eye diagram of high-speed signals. The solution involves using a low-capacitance TVS array specifically designed for bus applications, combined with high-performance common-mode inductors. For instance, select a TVS array with extremely low line-to-line capacitance for differential-mode and common-mode protection, while pairing it with a common-mode inductor featuring high common-mode impedance and low differential-mode insertion loss. This combination effectively filters out common-mode noise and clamps transient overvoltages. It not only meets high-level surge and electrostatic protection requirements such as ISO 7637-2 but also ensures perfect support for high-speed data formats like CAN FD.
