
According to GB17625.1 and IEC61000-3-2, the upper limit frequency for harmonic current testing is 2kHz, i.e., the 40th harmonic. For a 50Hz fundamental frequency edge box switching power supply, the waveform distortion of the input current mainly generates odd harmonics such as the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th. The testing equipment must have a 2kHz bandwidth filter to detect harmonic components. If the equipment power is ≤75W, the harmonic limit does not apply, but usually the edge box power is >75W and the test limit is required. See the harmonic current limit table for Class D equipment.
