Fetal monitor EMC requires processing two types of signals. The echo signal received by the ultrasound Doppler probe is very weak; therefore, its preamplifier must use low-noise components, the entire receiving channel should be covered with a metal shield, and it should be kept away from digital circuitry. Shielded probe cables should be used. The signal conditioning circuitry for the pressure sensor (TOCO) requires careful decoupling of its operational amplifier power supply. If the device includes wireless transmission (e.g., Bluetooth), the wireless module should be independently powered and isolated from the main system power supply via a ferrite bead; the antenna should be kept away from analog circuitry. A small EMI filter and TVS diode can be added to the device's main power input.
