AC charging stations are the most common charging terminals for electric vehicles, operating in environments ranging from home garages to complex public parking lots. Because they are directly connected to the power grid, the system faces risks from lightning strikes, operational overvoltages, and electrostatic discharge from live plugging and unplugging. We offer high-level lightning and surge protection solutions for the control boards and power paths of AC charging stations. By integrating high-performance varistors (MOVs) and ceramic gas discharge tubes (GDTs), our solution effectively absorbs excess energy generated by grid fluctuations, ensuring the absolute electrical safety of the on-board charger (OBC) and the vehicle's battery pack during charging, providing users with a robust and reliable smart charging experience.
